For oral presentations, poster presentations, and workshops, the submission for abstracts is now open. For oral presentation, you will need to choose the most appropriate conference Theme or Special that matches the subject of your submission. For poster presentations and workshops, you can choose the appropriate topic from a list of categories including the Themes and Specials topics.

Emerging technology or innovative methods applicable in forensic science such as analytical methods to address typical forensic challenges (source attribution, dating, …); emerging DNA and RNA techniques for faster and/or more informative analysis of biological material; novel fingermark detection methods for improved detection and identification and Law enforcement and courts in the digital era. • Theme 2: Innovation of Processes in Forensic Investigation >
New techniques are made available to the forensic community, providing it with fantastic new opportunities, but at the same time a high quality standard should be achieved and results of investigations should become available at shorter notice. • Theme 3: Strength of Forensic Evidence >
This theme covers topics involving evidence interpretation, statistical aspects of evidence evaluation, reporting of evidence and the application of forensic evidence interpretation in non-forensic fields. Read more >
• Theme 4: Education, Training and Assessment of Professionals in the Criminal Justice System >
This theme covers topics involving the training and education of stakeholders, the assessment of forensic practitioners and innovations and best practices in education, training and assessment of (forensic) professionals. Read more >
• Theme 5: Forensic Cooperation and Communication >
Cooperation and communication is essential in application and development of forensic science. In this theme, we will focus on topics like inter-disciplinary cooperation, communication in the criminal justice system, (non)operational cross border cooperation, Centers of Excellence and forensic science in society and the media. Specials
• Special 1: Forensic application of special and unconventional tools and expertise >
This Special is open to any contribution outside the more traditional fields and therefore might include forensic psychiatry, forensic archeology, forensic linguistics, forensic seismology etc. Read more >
• Special 2: Scene of Crime >
Crime Scene Investigation has a key role to play in the management and application of science at the very beginning of the forensic process. In addition, forensic science is increasingly used in unusual circumstances. Read more >
• Special 3: Forensic Databases >
Forensic databases traditionally play an important role in reducing the possible sources of crime related material thereby providing investigative leads to the police and/or evidence to the judiciary. Read more >
• Special 4: Soil Forensics >
In recent years, soils and sediments have proved to be useful in obtaining evidence in three major areas of forensic investigation: violation of environments through pollution and/or bad management, in criminal investigation, particularly as sources of trace evidence and as a place where human remains are buried and decay. As the program allows only a limited number of presentations and workshops, we will have to follow a review process guided by our scientific committee. Authors will be informed about the acceptance of the submitted abstract in the course of March 2012.
The maximum number of words for the abstract is 400, excluding references. You can submit up to 5 references.
Abstracts can be submitted through the EAFS2012 website by completing the requested fields below. Once you have submitted your abstract, you will receive an automated reply confirming delivery.
